Influencer Archita Phukan, popularly known as “Babydoll Archi,” has become the target of a disturbing cybercrime involving AI-generated explicit images, leading to the arrest of her ex-boyfriend, Pratim Bora, a mechanical engineer from Tinsukia, Assam. On July 12, 2025, the Dibrugarh cybercrime unit apprehended Bora following a complaint filed by Archita Phukan’s brother. Investigators revealed that Bora used artificial intelligence tools like Midjourney, Desire AI, and OpenArt AI to create sexually explicit images by superimposing Archita Phukan’s face onto pornographic material.
Initially driven by revenge after their breakup, Bora’s actions escalated into a calculated scheme. He created multiple fake social media and email accounts to spread the manipulated content and monetized the material through subscription-based platforms, reportedly earning close to ₹10 lakh. The fake online persona “Babydoll Archi” gained massive traction after a viral reel surfaced on June 26, showing a doctored image of Archita Phukan alongside a well-known adult performer. The post misled the public into believing she was involved in the adult entertainment industry, quickly amassing over a million followers.
The police traced Bora through his IP address and seized various digital devices including mobile phones, laptops, SIM cards, and financial records. During interrogation, he confessed to creating and distributing the explicit content featuring Archita Phukan, citing emotional distress. The incident has sparked widespread outrage in Assam and highlighted growing concerns about AI misuse in online harassment and defamation. Bora has been charged under multiple provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and remains in five-day police custody as investigations continue.
